HOOPSTERIA is the best online game March Madness has to offer outside of the games themselves! Once you play HOOPSTERIA you may never go back to filling out a traditional bracket. . .

What is HOOPSTERIA? Hoopsteria is different than filling out a traditional bracket. It is a pool where you select the winner of each game throughout the entire NCAA tournament and assign specific "confidence points" to the winning teams. Your selections are made tournament round by tournament round and it does not matter if you picked a team incorrectly in previous tournament rounds - you are always starting over at the beginning of a new tournament round. This means that over the course of a few weeks you will be logging back into the online tool to make new picks prior to a set of actual games being played. Unlike a bracket, you won't have to throw it in the trash can after games next Thursday and Friday - you keep playing and will be surprised at how well you may finish at the end!! By doing so, you are able to strategically assign confidence points to either maintain your lead in the pool, position yourself for future upward movement in the leaderboard, or to make high risk / reward selections on Cinderella teams or major upsets! Confidence points are pre-set by tournament round and there are optional bonus points available for picking teams that will make it to the Final Four. As the teams themselves advance thru the NCAA tournament, you get to continuously decide who you want to pick as the winner of a particular game and how many points you are willing to put on them!

HOOPSTERIA offers you the ability to play in private leagues that are managed by a League Commissioner. Each league requires a league id and password to join - and this information will be emailed to you by the League Commissioner. Within each private league there is functionality for you to make your picks, view your current standing on a leaderboard, etc. Although much of the functionality and rules associated with HOOPSTERIA are set by the HOOPSTERIA Management Team, the League Commissioners have the ability to set league dues, payouts for winning teams, etc.

Making Picks / Assigning Confidence Points (per round)

Click on the My Picks tab to make your selections.  Select the team that you think will win each match-up and then use the drag & drop feature to assign each selection a confidence point value (starting with the highest confidence point value and working your way down the values).  Teams can only be picked once and assigned to only one specific confidence point value.  Continue making selections until all confidence point values are assigned.

NOTE:  You are able to change your teams and/or the confidence points assigned as many times as you wish up to 5 minutes before the tip-off of the first nationally televised game (EST) each round.  In order to change or delete a selection (team / confidence point value), you can either click on the red or drag & drop the team back to the appropriate region.  Please check your picks carefully prior to the deadline for each round.

SPECIAL NOTE: Selections are made tournament round by tournament round and it does not matter if you picked a team correctly or incorrectly in previous tournament rounds - you are always starting over at the beginning of a new tournament round and assigning new confidence values to teams that are still playing in the tournament.  Therefore, you will need to make a total of 6 different rounds of picks as the tournament unfolds.

UPSET SPECIAL BONUS OPPORTUNITY (Round 1 only)
Each player has the chance of getting bonus points by picking upsets of the #1, #2, #3, and #4 seeds in ROUND 1.  Bonus points are earned by correctly picking a #16, #15, #14, and #13 seed to win its game in Round 1 ONLY.  A player can pick as many "upset special" picks as they want. Each correct "upset special" pick will result in the following bonus points:

#16 seed over a #1 seed = 50 additonal bonus points
#15 seed over a #2 seed = 25 additonal bonus points
#14 seed over a #3 seed = 15 additonal bonus points
#13 seed over a #4 seed = 10 additonal bonus points
Bonus points earned for correct "upset special" picks are in addition to the confidence value assigned to the correct "upset special" pick. Negative points for an incorrect pick do not apply (player will just receive zero points since the "upset special" pick lost the game.
Teams that are available as "upset special" picks will have a special bonus point logo on their team name (+50, +25, +15, and +10).

FINAL FOUR BONUS OPPORTUNITY (Sweet Sixteen round only)
Each player has the chance of getting up to 40 bonus points by picking the Final Four teams correctly.  The bonus opportunity is OPTIONAL.  In order to enter the bonus opportunity, each player must make their selections at the same time they are making their selections for the winners of the Sweet Sixteen matchups.  A selection must be made for EACH region in the tournament based on who the player thinks will ultimately make it to the Final Four from that region (i.e. these teams would need to win their Sweet Sixteen matchup and their Elite Eight matchup).  A correct pick will result in 10 bonus points. An incorrect pick will result in a NEGATIVE 7 points.  Total bonus points possible +40 and worst case scenario -28.  NOTE: In order to enter the bonus opportunity, ALL four regions must be selected.  Failure to select all four regions will be considered an invalid entry into the Final Four bonus opportunity.
In order to make Final Four bonus opportunity selections, use the drag & drop feature to select a Final Four Bonus Star icon and then drag it / hover it over the team that you think will make it to the Final Four.

25 POINT BONUS OPPORTUNITY (Elite Eight round only)
Each player has the chance of getting up to 25 bonus points just by making a correct pick.  The 25 point bonus opportunity is OPTIONAL, however there is no risk of negative points if you get it wrong.  In order to enter the 25 point bonus opportunity, each player must pick ANY ONE of the teams in the Elite Eight.  You are able to select a team that you already selected for one of the four confidence point values OR you can select a different team not already selected in order to hedge your total accumulated points for that match-up.  Total bonus points possible +25 and worst case scenario 0.
In order to make the 25 point bonus opportunity selection, use the drag & drop feature just as you would when making your normal selections.
